'HULK' OUT! AND A SMASH Danny Elfman's latest score, Hulk, is now available in stores. See the review and listen to soundclips in .mp3 and Real Audio format (a first for this site!). Elfman was interviewed about Hulk for the L.A. Times's Calender Live "Big Picture" section. He told the paper: "It was a very extreme situation. I wouldn't have even flown up there if it hadn't been for how much respect I have for Ang. I had this horrible fear that he'd look at me like this Hollywood hack who'd come in and do a predictable action movie score. After I looked at the film, I went home and had nightmares all night long — and that was before I realized how little time I had to do it." The interview has been archived in the Articles 99 section. 'FISH', 'SUPERMAN' DIES, MORE M.I.B.? To the surprise of no one, Danny Elfman will write the score for Tim Burton's currently filming adaption of Daniel Wallace's Big Fish, which features an extensive cast of Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Billy Crudup, Jessica Lange, Helen Bonham Carter, Steve Buscemi, Danny DeVito and Alison Lohman. Check out photos from the July 2003 Vanity Fair of Burton and some of the Big Fish cast. Brett Ratner has left Warner Bros.' Superman project, likely ending any chance of Elfman's involvement with the picture. Columbia Pictures has a Men In Black III in development, based on an idea by Will Smith. If Danny Elfman returns for a third Men In Black film, it would be the first time he would score three films in a single series. ELFMAN TO WALK DOWN THE AISLE Bridget Fonda's publicist confirmed that the actress will marry Danny Elfman. Fonda and Elfman have been spotted since the announcement at the recent BMI Awards (where Elfman picked up 5 awards) and at the premiere for Hulk in Hollywood. No date has been made public. Congratulations! 'SPIDER-MAN' NABS SATURN Danny Elfman's original score for Spider-Man won a Saturn Award, presented by the Academy Of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror. Elfman previously won a Saturn for Mars Attacks!. Elfman's Spider-Man was also nominated for a Grammy Award for "Best Score Soundtrack Album For A Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media". Unfortunately, Elfman did not win. Elfman's contributions to Chicago, though small, did not go unnoticed. Elfman, along with Chicago songwriters Jack Kander and Fred Ebb were nominated for a B.A.F.T.A (British Academy of Film and Television Arts). |
