NIGHTMARE ON BROADWAY? 10-13-01: A recent report on Aint-it-Cool-News about the Disneyland retro-fit of the Haunted Mansion into a NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS styled attraction mentioned that Danny Elfman is currently working on adapting the Tim Burton inspired film into a Broadway show. Please note that the editor of AICN, Harry Knowles, offers no confirmation of this news. Maybe he's just mistaking the EDWARD SCISSORHANDS ballet for a NmBC Broadway show? ELFMAN & BURTON CANCEL DISNEY GIG 10-13-01: Disney's website first excitedly promoted that both Danny Elfman and Tim Burton would join a discussion panel at Disneyland to celebrate the opening of their Haunted Mansion NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS redux. Unfortunately, their website later claimed that "due to scheduling conflicts", neither Elfman or Burton would attend. For those who forked out over $200 for special tickets to the event, this one has gotta hurt. The NIGHTMARE retro-fit of the Haunted Mansion will run into January 2002. FOX HOME VIDEO'S 800lb DVD GORILLA 10-13-01: Twentieth Century Fox unveiled the details of their double-disc DVD set for Tim Burton's PLANET OF THE APES last month. The set is being billed as their most feature-packed DVD ever, and includes a Danny Elfman commentary track, an enhanced viewing mode enbaling viewers to switch to behind the scenes features while the film is playing, "Chimp Symphony Op. 37" - behind the scenes on scoring the film, as well as several other featurettes, multi-angle features, make-up tests, and a whole lot more! Recently announced, but not previously planned, is a Tim Burton commentary track. The set hits stores on November 20th. INTERNET HOKEM POLICE 10-13-01: It's important for people to know that several rumors floating around of late are not true or unconfirmed. 1) Danny Elfman is scoring BATMAN 5, says the Internet Movie Database. Well, the IMDB is frequently wrong. Case in point, they listed Howard Shore as composer on MARS ATTACKS! even after the film was in theaters with music by Danny Elfman. This is probably someone's wish (can't blame them) that Elfman is scoring BATMAN 5, but at this time is unlikely. 2) The third volume of MUSIC FOR A DARKENED THEATER, the Elfman compilation series, is in planning stages. Well this is partly true. In the current issue of Soundtrack Magazine, an interview with Elfman about PLANET OF THE APES also has the composer mentioning that a third MFADT is in the works. However the tracklist posted to this site's discussion board and the board at the Elfman Zone is fake. |
