READY TO RULE THE PLANET?
After the tepid reaction to many of this Summer's big blockbuster movies, is it then likely that PLANET OF THE APES might emerge as one of the year's highest grossing films? We'll have to wait until July 27th. As for Danny Elfman's score, a report to DarkHorizons.com mentioned that it would be performed by "one of the largest orchestras ever" (actually about 102 players). Parts of the score were recorded on Friday, June 15th through to the 17th. An update appeared on Musicfromthemovies.com detailing the hectic pace with which Danny Elfman and his scoring team are putting things together as well as the orchestra's unusual brass section: " [the] huge brass section includes 12 french horns, 12 trombones, 3 trumpets and 2 tubas. The 102-piece orchestra is joined by a choir." Music From The Movies also qoutes a source calling the situation "a bloodbath", but "all is proceeding smoothly in spite of it all".MFADP has learned that Tim Burton is currently in London conducting re-shoots. Whether this is a good sign.... IS THAT YOU "JULIAN"? I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER director Jim Gillespie is in London shooting a script by Nora Ephron titled...JULIAN. The premise? A young girl and her murderous imaginary friend. Is this the same JULIAN Danny Elfman has mentioned in past interviews? More info when it's available. WEBSITE FACELIFT: REALITY Hey it had to happen! After two years, MFADP stayed basically the same way. However motivation in the form of an June ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY article (in which MFADP is featured) had seriously digging in to re-design the site. The changes aren't radical, but hopefully they'll improve the way the site works for you, the visitor. (I always appreciate a note letting me know if something doesn't work -- chances are I don't know about it). Among the many improvements: brighter and bigger text, the sound clips section should now be completely glitch free, quite a few older files have been replaced with new, higher quality ones. They include Batman, Batman Returns, Black Beauty, Nightbreed, Mission: Impossible, The Frighteners, Scrooged and more. |
