A SIMPLE PLAN FROM COMPASS III Compass III Records will be releasing Danny Elfman's A SIMPLE PLAN score plus three songs on or about January 23rd.  COMPASS III is a new label dedicated to releasing film scores and soundtracks.  Their first release was Joel McNeely's bombastic score to THE AVENGERS.  More info on the release soon! CHANEL SURFING FOR  RIP-OFFS Is that Danny Elfman's music in the new Chanel No.5 ad?  The commercial, directed by Luc Besson (THE FIFTH ELEMENT) which shows a lady dressed up as little red riding hood and a howling black wolf uses actual cues from Danny Elfman's EDWARD SCISSORHANDS score - however they are not the same performance of the music used in the film or on the OST.  Information and awareness of this commercial is slowing growing and more news when it happens! ELFMAN RETURNS TO MARS WITH "MAIN THEME" FOR DISNEY The razor sharp eye of Vinicius Calvitti - Danny Elfman fan and past contributor to MFADP - caught this news on the official A SIMPLE PLAN website and posted it to the Discussion Board.  The site states that Danny Elfman is composing the "Main Theme" to Walt Disney Pictures' MY FAVORITE MARTIAN (March 1999).  John Debney is composing the score.  Ironically enough, Danny Elfman's BEETLEJUICE "Main Titles" plays during the MY FAVORITE MARTIAN trailer. MY FAVORITE MARTIAN stars Jeff Daniels, Christopher Lloyd, Elizabeth Hurley, Daryl Hannah, Wallace Shawn, Christine Ebersole and Ray Walston and directed by Donald Petrie. This marks the fourth Disney film Danny Elfman has contributed music to in two years (the others being FLUBBER, A CIVIL ACTION, and INSTINCT). 1998 ELFMANIAC AWARDS

BRIEFLY... SLEEPY HOLLOW UPDATE Aint-It-Cool-News reported that Emmanuel Lubezki (A LITTLE PRINCESS, LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE and GREAT EXPECTATIONS) will serve as Director of Photography for Tim Burton's horror film SLEEPY HOLLOW (Paramount). DANNY NEW FORD MODEL? No Danny Elfman isn't modelling - but he has scored some television ads for Ford/Lincoln/Mercury.  I haven't seen the ads myself, but Elin Carlson (MARS ATTACKS!, PERVERSIONS OF SCIENCE) lent her wonderful voice to the pieces.  Keep your eyes and ears out this month for them.
